Bingen is in the middle of it instead of just being there!
Regional highlights in the wonderful Middle Rhine Valley
As you know, you can experience a lot in Bingen on the Rhine. But also around the city you look at rivers full of possibilities. The Rhine and Nahe rivers are rich in extraordinary sights. The Upper Middle Rhine Valley awaits you with enchanting natural landscapes. And Bingen is the gateway.
The first is right across the Rhine: the imposing Niederwald Monument. Already from the Bingen culture bank you will recognize the 12.5 meter high statue of Germania. She casts a watchful eye over the Rhine valley. The monument dates back to the imperial era and was intended to commemorate the unification of Germany in 1871.
A hike to the monument will reward you. From the viewing platform you can enjoy a fantastic view of Rüdesheim, Bingen, Rhine and Nahe. But the fastest and most beautiful way to get to the Niederwalddenkmal is the Rüdesheim cable car. The cable car takes you in a relaxed pace over the steep vineyards up to the monument.
The romantic Rheinstein Castle is one of the many beautiful castles in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. It sits proudly on a 90-meter-high rock spur on the eastern slope of the Bingen Forest. The castle opens its doors to you to fine glass art and fascinating illusion painting. A wonderful gem. Stroll among romantic gardens and terraces and feel at home. From Bingen, it is only a stone's throw to a romantic castle experience, an exciting cable car ride or an impressive monument visit. Because in Bingen you are right in the middle of it all.
